Choosing the Right Coverage for Your Move

At 495 Movers, we understand the importance of protecting your belongings during your move. That's why we offer a range of coverage options to give you peace of mind.

Basic Coverage (Free)

  • Included with your move.
  • Provides $0.60 per pound coverage for damaged items.
  • Based solely on the weight of any item/s damaged and does NOT fully cover repair or replacement of the item.

Full-Value Protection (Recommended)

  • This coverage is in addition to the cost of your move.
  • Prices vary based on the amount of coverage and size of the deductible you choose for your move.
  • Covers for the repair or replacement cost (whichever is less) for damaged items.
  • Priced based on your chosen level of protection and deductible.
  • Valuation is based on current market value (the cost to replace the same or similar item today), not the original purchase price.

*Please note that the initial cost of Full-Value Protection covers your belongings for the first 90 days. If you choose to store your belongings with us beyond 90 days, this coverage is renewed monthly at $5 per $1000 in coverage.

What's Not Covered:

Coverage does not include loss or damage to the following items:

  • Items made with veneered chipboard, particle board, MDF (medium density fiberboard), composite board, or similar materials. These materials are more prone to damage during the moving process.
  • Non-Household Items: Business equipment, industrial items, and other non-home items are not covered. (Limited coverage may be available for total loss under a Logistics policy).
  • Items You Pack Yourself: We are not responsible for damage to items you pack.
  • Fine Art: Special coverage is needed for art and other valuables under the Fine Arts policy.
  • Real Estate: We don't cover damage to your property itself.
  • Natural Wear & Tear: Loss or damages caused by wear and tear, deterioration, changes in climatic conditions, mold, mildew, infestations, or *inherent vice.
  • *Inherent Vice – an exclusion found in most property insurance policies eliminating coverage for loss caused by a quality in property that causes the item to damage or destroy itself.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Final Walk-through: Check your pick-up location before our team leaves to ensure all intended items are loaded.
  • Delivery Inspection: Immediately note any damages or missing items on your inventory sheet.
  • Written Documentation: Report any discrepancies in writing on the inventory sheet at delivery.
  • Additional Claims: Notify us within 7 days of delivery for any further discovered damages.
  • Timely Reporting: Prompt notification and verifiable move-related damage are crucial for coverage.
